The Armies:

We played with armies of 4000 points and 1500 ars arcana points each.

The armies were represented respectively by 144 miniatures of the army of the Imperial Legion and 215 miniatures of the army of the Naran Orcs, for a total of 359 miniatures. .

Outcome of the clash in terms of points:

The battle ended with a "MINOR VICTORY" in favor of the Imperial Legion (Sergio):

- the Orcs suffered 3079 points of losses (Sandro);

- the Imperial Legion suffered 2619 points of losses (Sergio), with a difference of 460 points in his favor.

Note:

The scenario involved an incursion of Orcs from the tribes settled in Rugiland, in the territory of the Roman Empire.

The Legion won the exploration test, so the Orc army had to deploy first. The battle began at the crack of dawn. This favored the Romans for the first six shifts, because the Orcs suffer the light of day, but they were then favored in the last six (night) shifts, because the men suffer from the darkness of the night, while the Orcs they see well.

After an exchange of darts carried out by the two opposing Heavy Crossbow Units in the first round, in the second round both Warchiefs gave the order "ATTACK": that of the Legion to the Cavalry Command, of which the giant elephant was part. Azagoth, the Giant Orc Warchief, has given orders to attack almost all of his army, except one of the Wolf Cavalry Commands, to allow hit to maneuver, in order to then attack the enemy army on the right flank. The second Wolf Cavalry Command, supported by a heavy battle chariot, deployed on the left side, instead immediately went to the attack. The two Units of the Roman Cavalry Command moved against it: a Unit of Praetorians and one of Cataphracts. The Tribune (Battle Leader) had joined the Praetorians.

In subsequent turns, the Roman Warchief gave the order "ATTACK"to the Infantry Command (two Veteran Legionary Units and one Giant Minotaur Unit), supported by elephants (one Unit of three Numidian elephants and one with a Vindhyan elephant) , in order to face the advancing Orc Infantry with the support of the mighty Jugghernauth, a Giant two-headed Troll and two Giant two-headed Half Orcs. The Roman Warchief had the Giant Eagle under his direct orders, which he kept in reserve for several shifts, until its use was necessary.

As for the magical component, both armies had deployed a Cabal of Wizards and one of Priests and Clerics. The Wizards of both armies have been busy since the third turn to summon the Creature (Fiend), which the enemy Cabal invariably pushed away, sending it back to the Astral Dimension from which it was called, simply by successfully dispersing the summoning spell. This fact was repeated for all the following turns, until the penultimate, when the Wizards of the Legion, having only a few magic points left, insufficient to carry out the dispersion spell, did not have called it, thus allowing the Creature summoned by the Orc Wizards to remain on the battlefield. However, having reached the end of the battle, this creature has not had the opportunity to assert its strength as it could have. He was able to engage the Giant Eagle in the last turn, but managing to inflict only one wound: see the last of the images below

Already from the fifth round the battle is raging, forcing the two armies to carry out Command tests. The Cavalry and Elephant Units, as well as the Giant Elephant, although overwhelmed by the number of opponents, held the field beyond all imaginable limits, exceeding a truly incredible number of "Saving Throws" , even thanks to the sacrifice of all the Clerics and one Priest. This greatly affected the outcome of the confrontation. In the final rounds the Orc army had lost all its Giant Creatures (except the Giant two-headed Troll) and many Units, while the Giant Creatures of the Romans (Giant Elephant and Giant Eagle) held out until the end of the fight, contributing thus to determine the victory, in terms of points, of the Imperial Legion.
