"our" futuristic version of the fantasy wargame

Fantasy Warriors

What we present here it is our home-made version of the wargame Fantasy Warriors, that we have adapted to obtain an entirely new game, for plaiyng fantasy-battles in a futuristic scenario inspired from many science fiction pictures, with all the miniatures of any marks in the 25-28 - 30 mm scale.

NARAN FUTURE WARS provides the armies lists of many nations and races, in four macro scenarios:

1. SPACE OPERA: battles between big armies of a very far future also equipped with heavy artillery and armoured vehicles, with fliyng vehicles too.

2. MORTAL LANDS: clashes between small teams, with a prevalence of individual figures, without armored or flying vehicles, in a post-nuclear and cyber-punk scenario inspired from pictures such as Mad Max, Ghosts of Mars, Blade, Underworld, Riddik, Serenity , Total Recall, etc..

3. MODERN TIMES: current terrestrial armies against alien creatures, even in scenarios inspired by science fiction pictures set on Earth in our day: Arakno Attack (Giant Spyders), Tremors, King Kong & Giurassic Park, Alien, Predator, Resident Evil, War of the Worlds, the Fire Empire, etc..

4. WORLD WAR II: historical wargame at a level of infantry platoon in 28 mm scale, with some scenarios inspired by pictures like "Indiana Jones" and "Hellboy."

The name FUTURE WARRIORS was the line of miniatures that time ago were sold by the U.S. company GRENADIER, most of which were sculpted by Mark Copplestone. In 1994, Grenadier edited a skirmish game created by Nick Lund: KILL ZONES. This was a game completely different from FANTASY WARRIORS, a different sequence of rounds, new methods to compute Fire and Combat, a new orders system. A real "new game", that very little, not to say anything, had kept from FANTASY WARRIORS and that it was designed to play clashes between small bands with a very little number of miniatures.

With our amateur version - unofficial - of NARAN FUTURE WARS, instead, you can play either skirmish clashes between two small gangs, both very big battles between two futuristic armies, who will also employ heavy artillery, armored vehicles and equipment and flying vehicles.. The size of your armies depend on the time and space you have available. A normal battle of the future will be fought on the standard wargame table of 120 x 180 cm. and should last at least from 2.5 to 3 hours.

The game system is the same of FANTASY WARRIORS. Of course we had to manage transmission of orders with more modern equipments (radio - satellite communicator) and firearms more powerful, so the fire and combat fases have been completely redone. We had adopted the order by Units as suggested by Nick Lund for Fantasy Warriors. We have also abolished the COMMAND Test.

In view of the fact that in some science fiction sagas, you can meet people who have many of the powers of the classics fantasy wizards, we considered it appropriate to retain this component, allowing players to choose whether to use or not the Magic, as in Fantasy Warriros.
